A spectacular album, and I agree with the "too jazzy for Yes, too symphonic for Crimson" perspective. FOOW is one of the absolute best entries in the Yes alumnus solo canon, and I cannot vote for any one song over the other. It's best listened to from beginning to end.

I voted for Silently Falling but I could vote for Hold Out Your Hand too or maybe any other song here. The whole record is great and definitely 'Yessish'. And by the listening to FOOW I realised how great player and composer Chris was. And even as he wasn't solo vocalist, his contribution to Yes sound with his backing vocals are indisputable. I couldn't believe he is gone as Yes with him was some certainity for me over the years... :-(

Been playing this daily this week on my ipod after a few years of zero plays. Somuch music and not enough time. Silently falling got my vote but there's not a weak track on the album.

Hadn't played it for quite a while so I went back and listened . Good solid album but not something that knocks my socks off.....but it does have a very nice feel to it...dreamy at times and obviously Yes like but also ....different.

Safe, because the beginning is what I first fondly recall from the album, ...and t he more because it gets less votes than it deserves !

Wasn't Fish Out of Water the first '75 Yes solo album out of gate? Much praise has been given one of the others by Jon Anderson, but that one might as well have been performed by the Mike Curb Congregation - it pales in comparison to Fish'. Anyway, Hold Out Your Hand gets my vote here. As an opener, it unleashed Squire's master stroke upon our befuddled senses, and we became that much better because of it.
