if they ever come your way.. be sure to catch them. They smoke live.. Moorea is both fire and ice. Amazing singer and quite approacable and fun to chat with. We both share a passion and love for Billie Holiday and must have spent half an hour talking over our favorites from her and how her vocal style derived from the masteress herself.

Wow, quite an experience that must have been.
Moorea really catches your attention, but the backbone of the music, the songs, are also amazingly good!

Moorea was a 1st class front-woman. .like Patricia HeartHeartHeartLOL she dominates your every sense. Impresive for someone so young I suppose. Like a stage veteran. However  the secret weapon with MoeTar is not just just her, it is the band is frickin 1st class. ClapYou know it even though you can't take your eyes off the singer to perhaps recognize it haha

two songs.. and you are out.  i'm not particularly inclined to traditional prog metal... that said ...Vanden Plas was sure a helluva lot better than DT!!! Thumbs Up  The singing and songwriting is so much better but still... it lacks something that might make someone like me really get into it. That something for example that Symph X has in spades...

Discipline doesn't need the vote and my favorite from them wasn't selected anyway..

anyhow giving the vote to Moetar and Moorea..  very impressive first two albums and hopefully she and the group will be a creative force and dynamic presence for many years.  Indeed a wonderful person to chat with, as well as to watch and listen sing her heart out.

You might want to try VP's second album, The God Thing. I'm not sure it'll have enough of that something but it's definitely your best shot.

nearly forgot this before seeing the other Andy's post...

a moment of quiet here... between albums... checking it out. Thumbs Up

Another one where I almost broke my own rule of only voting for albums I've heard in full. Quite taken with that Herd of Instinct track. Will have to get their albums someday.

In the end though I went with MoeTar. Had something the other two didn't, I thought. Yeah, it was the voice of Moorea. LOL

The band behind Moorea can definetly play in fact one of the guys also plays for MIRTHKON.

And Secret Chiefs 3 as well (at least in their live incarnations). The very talented Matt Lebofsky, who is also a very nice guy! We were lucky to see miRthkon and MoeTar play live together at the Orion Studios in 2012, and you can find a review of that evening on my blogSmile.

Loving these. Not educated enough to vote yet but I think running through these is going to be my catching-up thing after a while away from the prog.

Yep, had to go with Vanden Plas.  January Sun is everything that Prog Metal Keyboards should be!

Well Discipline doesn't need any help, VP was pretty generic, I like MoeTar best of the other 2 so get the vote
