ahh.. saved the best for nearly the last... considering how so many rave of them.

need to check out the Swans and Cardiac albums...will get to these tomorrow!

I need my nightly SC3 fix...  I have been completely hooked by Book M.  I had one song off of that in my head all throughout the day...

I guess I'll hold here too...

Listened to the Cardiacs Little Man etc two or three times in the past couple of days. Fabulous stuff. At some point I really should try some of their other stuff but it seems that this album is their most admired overall. won't make it through to the next round which is a shame.

Swans, I'm now getting ready to hit for the third time. Havn't made it all the way through yet. Not the fault of the album it is simply down to some other bugger interupting me.

I'll tell ya.. and interesting observation that has come out of this recent batch of listenings.

While listening to these I'm usually surfing around.. trying to educate myself on the albums and at times the groups. At times I've gone over to the allmusic site which usually has fantastic reviews.  I think someone, perhaps Raff, had told me they vet reviewers there hard and hold their reviews to very high standards.

For years I've visited the site and found the information and reviews to be top notch. However the other night I was looking up something.. I wish I could remember what it was to share it.. but came across a complete amateur hatchet job of a review on allmusic. Someone you'd expect to see here, an amateur review site, but not one that is supposed to (or supposedly) has very high review standards.

I bring this up for the review  for this Cardiacs album is.. well... PA's quality.  Witty for sure.. but not a well written one. Perhaps they invest all the review talent into the bigger name albums and groups for some of teh reviews of albums from some of these polls are ...2nd rate.. like something I'd have written.

I tell ya...  good luck trying to find a good review of this album btw.  Divsive or does prog fan have his blinders on here.  I'm struggling with it myself...

that might be a grower.. but definitely failed in reach out and grab you immediately which can be a fatal flaw.

These series of polls do spotlight that man... there are miles of music for each free moment set aside for exploration. Make a good first impression.. or get lost in the avalanche...

I did warn you Micky. Tongue  I made it through about an hour on first listen. Wasn't the music that made me stop btw.

Funny re the Cardiacs. It had me right from the start.

that you did LOLClap

same here... made it through the first disk.  I really enjoyed it.

My tastes are still favorite catholic.. I like to rock.. or I love having my heart and soul touched. I'm expanding my horizons towards the more ...odd...but still... it will be a long time if ever before I really enjoy stuff like that.

not enough to win the vote but something I'll be returning to check out further.  I think I'll come to really like that album

Anyhow.. at least the first vote publicly registered for Gilbert's album LOL  Lots of votes... no confessions. Love that album.

well put...  thankfully it didn't take long to suck me in.. that long track at the beginning of it was the one that got me. The album did have a quick hook due to the length.  Nothing is more maddening that sifting through 80 minutes of music and often getting 60 minutes of crap simply for 20 minutes of gold.

Kevin Gilbert is one of my favorite songwriters, and easily wins this for me. I like some of Cardiacs and Diagonal, while having certain problems with them.

Kevin Gilbert, The Shaming of the True.

When he rides, my fears subside.
For darkness turns once more to light.
Through the skies, his white horse flies.
To find a land beyond the night.

Has to be the Cardiacs
Bringing up such crazy music, in an age where all prog seemed to be neo.
Melting prog with punk. Many years without success...
Great band!
