Topic: Dreadstar - Heavy Posted: July 15 2015 at 12:50 |
Dreadstar is an original heavy rock band from South Jersey featuring four of the area's preeminent musicians. Mel Leach, of Vicious Circle notoriety, brings us groove-laden bass lines and thick distortion for days. From local circuit mainstay Bad Whiskey, Gil Craig provides his services as lead guitarist and master of fiery riffs and soaring solos. Phil Stehling serves as our foundation with pocket feel and dynamics ranging from contemplative calm to thunderous cacophony. Finally, from the tomes of AXIS lore and of Sanctuary renown, Trevor Knauss lends us our powerful, expressive and lyric voice.
With each song capturing a different atmosphere, Dreadstar supplies ear catching and unique progressions and melodies with thought provoking lyrics while maintaining our signature sound. From the ominous portents of Crystal Ball to the dance-able groove of Down the Rabbit hole, each of the tracks on our debut album (released Spring 2015) offers something special stylistically. Not only did we write all of our own songs, but we also recorded and produced our album in house from top to bottom, proving that we are a creative force to be reckoned with.

Nice heavy rock and groovy with alternative rock references but can't see any connection whatsoever to progressive rock.
Thanks

Check out the song Lunacide/Never Come Back and you may change your mind. Thanks for the feedback!

Thanks, this one sounds more experimental but an album has to be progressive as a whole to be considered for inclusion - but as I said before, nice heavy rock!
