If you mean the version from Live at Pompeii then that is pretty special.  The version on Ummagumma beats the studio version hands down too.

The 1973 version of Eugene is easily the best song on that list for me...

From studio version tho I would go with ''See Emily Play''

The beautiful love song, and only one of a handful of such songs in the whole Floydian canon - Biding My Time - recorded around the time they were making Ummagumma.  It didn't fit in with the format of UG, or indeed AHM, but had it not been included on Relics, it would have (IMO) made a great addition to Meddle, perhaps the only romantically themed album they ever made.

Perhaps. But most artists are amateurs on their first releases (some throughout their career) and its not really an argument for or against the music imo.  

Such a lovely collection. I could go for Interstellar but it would't be correct because before I bought this it was already my favorite Piper-tune which means I often skipped it in favor of the #7 I hadn't heard before. 

Either Careful With That Axe Eugene or Julia Dream.

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

At the time, Relics provided access to a lot of out-of-print Floyd material, particularly the singles.  If memory serves, you could also only get the first two albums reissued as A Nice Pair, which was a considerable investment back then.  At least for me, it was to be some years before I heard the songs in their album contexts.
