Hey everyone. I know I've been posting a lot of my reviews on the main site and hanging around the forums for a few days already, but I thought I'd go and introduce myself. My name is Brendan Schroer, and I'm also a former staff reviewer on Sputnikmusic. I actually used to use this site under the username Pinkpork back in '08 and, believe it or not, this was the very first website I ever wrote reviews on! So I really have to thank this site for giving me my start all those years ago.
Anyway, my start with prog was with Queen (although I know they're just prog-related), when I got their Greatest Hits collection at about 7 or 8 years old. I loved the musical variety and just knew I wanted more of this music, so I then moved on to Rush; needless to say, Hemispheres is the album that truly got me hooked on the genre of progressive rock. Nowadays I've expanded my tastes to include alternative rock, folk, punk, classical, new age, jazz, hip-hop, and a variety of other styles. However, prog music holds a special place in my heart to this day, especially for how nostalgic a lot of the classic 70s acts are for me and just how complex and multifaceted the compositions are.
Aside from music, I'm also primarily into reading, poetry, video gaming, and fitness. I'm actually planning on going into the Navy as a jazz pianist
I'm also hoping to finish my degree in music composition, as well as become a session musician in the future.
Anyway, I really enjoy ProgArchives and am planning to stick around for a long time! Cheers!
