Love Scheherazade, but Third is something else. Unfortunately, it won't be enough to see them advance.

how about if you voted twice do you get 4?

wow..  Renaissance found some muscle and bitch slapped the Softs..  this was close last time I checked.

Oh well.. I had to pick one.. happy to see either move on.

As somebody once said, Ren has a silent fanbase on here. The Richard Nixon of prog, ha ha.  I am surprised nobody wrote in yet to express offence at zravkapt's comment.  There was an incident from back in 74 or so when Miles Copeland arranged for a photo session of Annie and intended to use the photos to promote the band as "Annie Haslam and the Renaissance". LOL  The band (except Annie, obviously) did not like the styling at all and shot it down.

Renaissance, Scheherazade and Other Stories.

Master James of St. George.
Of the fields and the sky.
He used to build castles of stone, steel, and blood.
But lines get broken down.

Man, an entire album of "monster ballads"....now where's my credit card?

As for Freedom Rock...that's a classic ad right there...and it worked (my sister actually ordered it!)

Third is a good album once in a long while, but I just dig Renaissance, maybe more than I should. Maybe it's my "inner chick" or something...

Clap  it definitely worked for them..  no band could do schmaltz as well as Renaissance did but the shame is they really could.. and did occasionally. do some very interesting stuff.

oh man.. classic era mk. 2 Renaissance is 90% schmatlz... but alive it is 75% of it tasty schmalz...

the one album of their essential first 4 I really did not like was Turn of The Cards.. yawn.... all the other ones at least had one standout track that wasn't just ....schmaltz but killer stuff.  (Rajah Khan, Ashes are Burning, A Trip to the Fair)

Might listen to a bit more later on. I remember from previous that I kind of sort of maybe liked it but disliked the opposition more. Could be wrong of course. Often am. Confused

Scheherazade wins this one for me
Take me down, to the underground
Won't you take me down, to the underground
Why oh why, there is no light
And if I can't sleep, can you hold my life

Foo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-hhh ... I don't know. I guess I'll just have to vote for the one that needs more votes for a tie - Third.

Nope, ... Scheherazade ... . It doesn't just brim with energy; it also has more madness and soul in it.

Yeah, I always wished they could have had just one more track like that per album, like Trip/Ashes/Touching Once.  They could write some musically interesting tracks once in a while but seemed to be content with the mournful symph sound.
