Wow! Love Acolyte and Hackett are but UZ in the lead is fantastic. PA rocks (or is it because PA doesn't not rock?)!

Never was much of a fan of Hacket's solo stuff. Acolyte, to me, just sounds like a bunch of left over Genesis rejects with nothing terribly much to recommend them. Even back then it's time had passed. Genesis had already done the Lamb, Gabriel was gone and Trick was a new direction for the band. Thanks god that they didn't continue to produce this kind of piffle. Not to mention possibly the worst cover art imaginable.

I appreciate where you are coming from but I was talking about the album as a whole not simply a live performance of a single track from 2012. My comments were intended to be a reflection on Hacket's choice of material, the lyrics and to some extent the production.. If that was not clear then I do apologise. The man is without a shadow of a doubt an utterly splendid guitarist whose playing both with Genesis and Solo is to my mind as good as it gets. While there are many that equal his playing, there are only a few that surpass it.
Nonetheless I stand by what I said. While the Lamb does contain supernatural references, on almost every level it sounds as if it comes from a different era to Acolyte which to my mind sounds as if it predates even Selling England.
| hey sorry mister and please dont panic but if you thought that you would be able to detract so easily [i.e. without any comments on your post] and call "a kind of piffle" this five stars masterpiece of symphonic prog by maestro Hackett then i'm afraid that you were terrible mistaken. |
Chill baby chill. Hopefully one's posts do inspire comment, otherwise my babbling would be nowt but wear and tear of my keyboard. Myself, I think your five stars are an over generous assessment but that's what is known as an opinion so please, don't get your knickers in a twist, tends to make for uncomfortable bustling in ones hedgerow. Oh well, at least you didn't try and defend that bloody awful artwork.

it's a undoubtedly a decent illustration. that expression at the ghost lady's face was nicely drawing though maybe the whole pic is too naive for my taste and it would be better without that whole figure - only with the doors, spheres and landscape... same as his "Cured" album cover [THAT is a disaster album cover] would be better wthout Steve Hackett and without that gin-tonic on the table, and with a white or grey frame with not a big letters, it could pass like some not so great ECM cover... anyway "Voyage of ..." illustration is in artistic level of eg. ELP "Trilogy" and Moody Blues "In Search of...".

Oh lord you just did. Certainly removing the figure could only improve the thing, starting again from scratch would be an even better idea. The damn looks like something produced by a dittsy teenager a month or so into first year at art school. I've always presumed it was done by his then squeeze; love lust or simply the desire for peaceful co-existence are the only reason I can think of as to why he went for that mishmash. Comparing it with the Cured cover is a bit odd .... they really are chalk and cheese, but I'll give you ELP's Trilogy. That really is awful. ISotLC ? Yeah, not much to recommend that either. ps - Kim Poor .... ex wife. I should have known that I guess.
