This is an odd topic, but one brilliant musician jumps to mind now and it's Chester Thomson, he is a fantastic drummer well known too for playing in Frank Zappa's touring band, Santana and Genesis after Peter Gabriel left. Also played in Genesis Revisited and more great albums plus releases.

Weather Report David Bowie (esp. his 'Berlin' era) Steve Hillage (usually the bassist) Can (with Reebop and Rosko - which then means Traffic as well) Not Prog, but Haircut One Hundred had Blair Cunningham on drums.

I think there are many black musicians in jazz-fusion genre
Not sure is it prog, but I think quite fit to jazz-fusion category as complex and symphonized form of jazz
Corey Henry is a monster on keys. Check out from 4:54
