Wakeman has said that he finally got to realize the album's full potential with the 2009 version. Personally I like it more than the original, though Anne of Cleves was way better in the '73 record.

Your thoughts?

I was lucky enough to be at the concert, though it was the night before the one used for the live album/DVD (though they did a recording of the show at the moment, so the one I have is the one I assisted). However, I do love both versions a lot, and would have a hard time choosing one. I guess it takes some time to get used to the new orchestrations, but in the end they do add something to the music... but even more than the orchestrations, it's the choir which in many parts makes the song... plus some of the extended pieces on the songs are really great too, there are some really beautiful pieces of music that we just won't hear in the original release. As for the new songs, I guess they aren't really up to the quality of the original songs... though I have grown fond of the overture. However, I do miss the 70's feel from the original album, and the sound of the keybaords is great, plus some of the moments from the supporting musicians I guess are better on the original.

Original, but I might go back and listen to Hampton again.
