Topic: Flashmen (Italy) for Rock Progressivo Italiano Posted: November 13 2015 at 00:37
Flashmen were an authentic band of early 70s progressive rock movement in Italy. They released two albums: "Looking for Life", 1970 - in following year the album was re-titled and re-released as "Hydra" - and "Pensando", 1972, re-released by Italian prog label Mellow Records in 1994 as a cd, now online at Bandcamp. the music is complex and yet melodic, with a lot of theatrical singing in Italian and full of keys.

Komandant, the group was already evaluated and rejected by the RPI team a couple of years back. The band is a beat/pop group, and that is primarily the style the majority of their music is in, hence the rejection.
Admittedly the album you linked to is their most interesting and `proggy', but overall there's not enough progressive elements in their sound to justify addition to the site under RPI.
(I sure wish an affordable CD reissue of that `Pensando' album would be re-released though!)

^^^^how we all hear the same things differently! i found at youtube the Flashmen's almost 10 min long track and it sounds to these ears really like that early 70s progressive rock in Italy. it's an "epic" duration for 1970 when the debut album was released under the title "Looking for Life" and reissued in 1971 and re-titled to "Hydra" - in 1991, "Hydra" was re-released as a cd on Japanese label Moon Witch Records:
edit: i really do like this band because they werent copying that English symphonic rock a la early Genesis. to these ears, and as i said in the OP, Freshmen were an authentic Italian progressive rock band from that movement in early 70s Italy. any thoughts by other members?
