There's a thread for our favourite albums released in 2015 already, but many of us are still playing catch-up, so to speak. What about albums or songs released in past years that you've only discovered this year? That's what this thread is for. We'll get a more complete picture of our musical tastes of 2015.

Marillion has been a regular presence in my album-buying in this year, with five albums purchased: Brave, Sounds That Can't Be Made, Anoraknophobia, Holidays in Eden and Seasons End. Dry Land (HiE) is my favourite song off of all of these, and Brave is an epic journey in music.

My Spock's Beard collection has continued to grow with the same evenness as the last few years, with three albums added: The Kindness of Strangers, The Oblivion Particle (a 2015 release, so I won't go into too much detail here) and V. Both Neal-era albums are great, especially the songs Harm's Way (TKoS) and The Great Nothing (V).

New bands I've found in 2015 include It Bites (the title track to Once Around the World rivals Dry Land as my favourite song-discovery of the year.) and, more recently, Beardfish (Sleeping in Traffic, Pt. 2, the title track of which is a new-record longest single-track song in my collection, at a whopping 35:44).

Well, more than 90% actually..that amounts to a lot of music.
In short, my best discovery (finally clicked) this year is the incredible Volta.

I can see myself posting a bunch of stuff to this thread Wink

For now, the Spinifex album Hipsters Gone Ballistic. Here's a track, Joint Strike Focker:

I'm not sure if the combination of free jazz, metal and No Wave to be found on this record is prog, but I feel there are those here who will dig it.

I also finally got Camembert's Schnörgl Attahk this year. What a fun album that is. Time they made another, I think!

EDIT: Listening again now. Harp + vibes is so good.  Harpist Guillaume Gravelin rules on this album.  How often does the harp rule?  Not often enough!

Definetly Faust. Discovered them in January and their debut is one of my favourite albums of all time. Timeless
