Good polls Cristi, all those UH vs DP. Thumbs up!
I pick Machine Head, because Demons and Wizards can't win with Highway Star, Pictures of Home or Lazy. Those three tracks and Space Truckin are top notch, while D&W is "just good". Paradise / The Spell is nice and all, but not THAT exciting. It's not a landslide, but I'm sure my opinion won't change on this one in foreseeable future

hmmm... excellent poll. Hard to decide. If you put a gun to my head I'd have to go with pre-K |

Frankly....I have never been all that impressed with either band ('Blackmood's' guitar playing excepted)....Both have had some good radio friendly hits and a few longer decent album tracks but I never had them in my personal top tier levels.
btw....I think I told this story before but one reviewer in the original Rolling Stone Record Guide called Uriah Heep 'a mutant version of Deep Purple'.

that was kind.. others might say they were a bargain priced, low talent, version of Deep Purple

I think here I have to abstain from voting. We have a Heep album that is a masterpiece almost start to finish vs my favourite Purple record that in the moments, has the unmatched motor-energy.

Fine album from Heep, but a classic from Purple.

Heep's best for me - but most albums would struggle against Machine Head (even if the live versions on Made in Japan trumped many). So another vote for Purple
