These are some of my favorite prog bands, a tough choice for me, but it is Passport that wins this race, personally. One of the best fusion bands of all time. Kristian Schultze, RIP.

It's gotta be PFM for me Doug, some of the most beautiful music i've ever heard.

I only know Ponty and PFM. Ponty's solo work can be a little too limp for my tastes, but his work with Zappa is exquisite. Anyway, I don't know the others, so no vote from me. Thanks though, because this gives some bands too look into.

PFM, Ponti and Passport, very hard choice between them, but I choose this order.

I'm guessing PFM will dominate the poll. and rightly so. But I had to throw a vote to Pell Mell, because somebody ought to...and at the end of the day, a guilty pleasure is still a pleasure

I love especially the Jean Luc Ponty Experience's Open String album, also featuring Philip Catherine and Joachim Kuhn.

Thanks for taking such an interest. Pell Mell are a German symphonic prog band par excellence, Passport and PSI are German fusion bands that really know what they are doing, and Quatermass is a British keys dominated trio who predated ELP, and are just as good.

Cool! They deserve attention; also does PSI, though brilliant, very obscure.

Quatermass over PFM. Seconded on the Phish recommendation. Try Junta, (hoist), or Billy Breathes for their best.
