Mirkwood is a contemporary prog rock band from Bradenton, Florida. at January 12, 2016, Mirkwood released an excellent full-lenght album "Absolute Radiance" as an online release at Bandcamp as well. the members are Shames (drums), Finn (bass), Nishi (guitar) and Beatrix (guitar, vox, tiny bells). i suggested Mirkwkood for the PA' Crossover Prog section due to their beautiful modern mixture of different influences from that ancient 70s symph-rock and jazz-rock via math rock and avant-garde to art-pop, odd time signatures and an unique airy atmosphere.

Good stuff indeed! Yeah, it's quite close to Math Rock in places - but ok, let's see what the Crossover team make of it first.
Mirkwood on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mirkwoodfl/ (no biographical info at all though - someone's gonna have to contact these guys for some info in order for us to be able to add them. (Shouldn't be a problem though - the facebook page is regularly updated).

Bio received in double quick time via facebook:
"Mirkwood is a prog rock band from Bradenton, FL formed in 2014 after the breakup of the member's previous band Eight Million Kami. Bassist Finn and guitarist Nishi were added and the band released an ep in 2015. They released their debut album, Absolute Radiance on Jan 12 2016. The band is influenced by such disparate influences as modern prog and math bands like TTNG, Circa Survive, The Mars Volta, toe, and Meet Me In St Louis, classic prog like Yes, King Crimson, Gentle Giant, and Genesis, experimental groups like Swans, Can, Liturgy, Sonic Youth, and The Dirty Projectors, all kinds of avant garde classical ranging from Stravinsky to Bernstein to Cage to Branca, Medieval music, and fusion groups like Steely Dan and The Mahavishnu Orchestra."
