Hello,

I would like to suggest a band called 'Fields Of The Nephilim', as I think they have done some music that can be called progressive. Now it is a band from The UK, considered as a Goth Rock, one of the best bands in that genre, but some albums, such as 'Elizium', 'The Nephilim' and 'Mourning Sun' are definitely prog related, or even progressive rock/metal, in my opinion.
I would be glad if this band will be added to Progarchives into Prog Related.
Please, do tell me your thoughts about this band.
Thank you.

Joseph

Love 'm. Very much looked like them back in 90-91 Approve

Elizium definitely has its Floydian moments but not more so than say the Cure's Disintegration.
Overall not Prog at all i'm afraid.

I think it should be in the section of Prog Related, though.. I mean there are even bands like Radiohead there, which are less prog than fields of the nephilim in my opinion. :)

The Nephilim could very well be stuck in either Prog related or experimental metal.
For years these guys can't be categorized or labeled into one exact genre much in the same way NIN (Trent Reznor) was and STILL is!

I'd vote for the Neph to be on here for sure. They are cutting edge and their is no other band like them. They are a fusing of many many music genres and you could very well through Prog in their arsenal as well.

I must say. If NIN can be tossed into the Prog related category, so can The Nephilim.
Not saying they are similar sounding, but the way both bands are built use similar genres together to hone their distinct and progressive sound (at times. )

Lastly. It must be noted Fields of the Nephilim have a new album coming out soon!!!
The 11-yr wait is over. Tony Pettit is back on bass too!! Wow!

Gimmie my headphones now!!! 🎧🤣

The guitar parts may not be overly progressive nor offer incredibly wacky time signatures but you have to listen to how the Nephilim build and arrange their music. Most of their work is incredibly layered, complex and full of many changes in direction in either tone or tempo.
The Nephilim DO have a serious Prog element to their music.
I think ELYZIUM and MOURNING SUN are perfect examples of what I am talking about.
Hope maybe you'll give them both a fresh listen and maybe you'll change your opinion.

I totally agree with you. I really think they should be at least in Prog Related, or Post Metal. Elizium and Mourning Sun are amazing albums, with prog elements for sure.
Also, I am looking forward to their new album (Prophecy I think is the name)
I am really glad I found this band, their music is awesome.

I mean experimental metal, with bands like Tool and Devin Townsend, etc. or just Prog Related.
