No particular order- UFO Blue Oyster Cult Judas Priest Nazareth Frank Marino Mahogany Rush Thin Lizzy Budgie Scorpions Montrose Early Van Halen Zep and the Sabs plus first 2 Rush lps are of course top notch as are Free, the Faces, Wishbone Ash, Groundhogs, Motorhead, Hawkwind, Pink faries etc etc but despite that they are 'rockin' they just outside of the 'classic 70's hard rock' tag in my view.. something harder or softer or bluesier or more diverse.. |

Favourites mean I have to have everything. Boots and all. This is not well.
Led Zeppelin Jimi Hendrix Black Sabbath / Heaven And Hell Deep Purple Blue Oyster Cult Rainbow Gillan (not IGB, ok but not quite...) UFO (Schencker years) Scorpions Aerosmith Jeff Beck Group Cream The bands /artists where I like 'em but want the one stop shop / great anthology, best of or best album. I like 'em but I don't Led Zeppelin like them. High Tide (lucky the bonus tracks on that appear and make it half-listenable, if only everyone had good production). Andromeda Golden Earring Michael Schencker (outside UFO...a few albums) Foghat Kiss (a custom CD does that) Budgie Groundhogs (yes they cover lots of musical ground - they'd be up top but I never managed to replace the lps with cds... Judas Priest Nazareth Boston Whitesnake (78 - 82) Uriah Heep (first 6 and the Pete Goalby era) Still any album Mick Box appears on is worth it for his inclusion. Ozzy. (The Diary legacy edition is enough for me). I would not include the Stones here as to me they are not a hard rock band as such. Otherwise I would. Plus it seems odd to not have Rush in there so here they are. Oh and the greatest funny band of all. Bad News. |

Well done to those who mentioned Montrose.
Others I listened to in my hard rocking youth - Ted Nugent UFO Thin Lizzy Deep Purple Rainbow Bad Company (are they rockin' enough?) Van Halen Lone Star (the UK one, actually on PA but I count them as a rock band as well) The Who and Led Zep of course.
