No one from the current list but I would choose either Shawn Lane or Frank Gambale if they were on it.

I thought the point of this site was to bitch about repetitive polls. LOL

Genesis, f**king Camel and Dull?

Guthrie Govan. Recently discovered him properly, and he's definitely my favourite now. He takes it a whole new level compared to people like Paul Gilbert, but still is beginning to play a little more clinical than merely having a signature sound. Deserves to win for sure though.

I tend to favour left-field stuff that is not necessarily guitar-based, though out of this list I do have a soft spot for Omar Rodriguez-Lopez's work with The Mars Volta. However, I'd like to mention a musician who is not only a great guitarist and composer, but also a friend: Dennis Rea of Moraine (and other projects). Their three albums, all released by Moonjune Records, are all outstanding, and highly recommended. Kavus Torabi of Knifeworld/Guapo/Gong fame also comes to mind. No one wants to downplay the importance of Gilmour, Barre, Latimer and their ilk, but the thread specifically asks about 21st-century guitarists.

Thumbs Up

I also like the album under his own name which incorporates elements of Chinese music, Views From Chicheng Precipice.

Meh list. Not much creativity or skills in display. Not a good selection. Voted for Brent, since Mastodon is listenable.
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

Would have had my vote if he was listed (also of Cardiacs), voted for Greenwood.
