Not sure if I'll be the first one to try, but given how amazing this band is and how much I'd like to see it here so that other folks can discover it too, I'll give it a shot:)
The name is Kauan, from Russia, and whilst their roots (referring to first cd's) are definitely in metal, their later phase & style, which now has lasted through a string of albums, is definitely post-rock. Which means that in my opinion they belong here, just as e.g. Ulver made their way to this site also through a similar journey. They are already on metal archives: http://www.metal-archives.com/bands/Kauan/102515 If you feel this amazing band has a shot at being granted a place here, let me know please and I'm more than happy to write a bio + pics + links + etc. Thanks!

Lol! I gave up doing this sort of thing about three months ago, but had to return here to make a request for an album's info to be updated in the Errors and Omissions forum the other day. I remember this band being suggested before only too well...twice in fact, so I might as well chip in again.
The first one was in early 2013, which resulted an evaluation in Post Rock, but the band were rejected despite an initial 'yes' and also a 'move' vote: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=92239&PID=4729724#4729724. The second suggestion was for Exp/Post Metal in August 2014: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=99209&PID=5027404#5027404, but they were unanimously rejected on that occasion by the Prog Metal team. Here's the full chart on progfreak: http://progfreak.com/Kauan-114060.html?path=pa/recent: KauanThe 'Muistumia' album that was in preparation at that time consisted purely of crowd-funded re-recordings of select songs from their back catalogue, apart from one new one called “Unsoi”, but there has been one other new album since called "Sorni Nai" (October 2015), which is a 52 minute single-song opus. It's on bandcamp: https://blood-music.bandcamp.com/album/sorni-nai, and YouTube too: This means one or other of the two teams could now re-evaluate, based solely on the latest album, but it would need a unanimous decision in favour for them to be added. There is no metal in this music to these ears, so I'm guessing it's going to be down to Darryl in the Post Rock team to decide whether or not to give them another chance... |

I remember that name. We have some new blood right now so I'll add them back to our 'new' section.

Thanks Both, great news! And yes I can only back up what yamyam wrote: I more or less understand why this band got rejected back then, they used to play some pretty heavy stuff. But the new cd with the above link has zero metal (and the previous one or two albums are not too heavy either), based on that they deserve to be here imho.

I might want to change the overall category to Experimental/Post Rock/Post metal though (impossible to label these guys!!!!!!)
