Obviously you know Radiohead. They have some great piano ballads which I can recommend if you want. Other than that:

Also, no vocals, but the playing style in these pieces is very applicable to song-oriented stuff.

^ Agreed. Probably applicable in something like an instrumental C-section (no pun intended) in ABABCAB or in a coda.

Great suggestions. I wonder who or what original styles (classical, hymn, etc.) have influenced these acts to write and play in that fashion.

(By the way, if you need a clearer reference, Neil Young's "Birds" and Van der Graaf's "The Wave" and "The Siren Song" may also be something to go onto, though I feel you've got the gist of it.)

You probably already know this one, but here goes anyway. Melodic, naive, almost classical in expression and far removed from most other artists featured on PA. It's only the first couple of minutes btw:

Oh and for dog's sake - we really can't have a piano orientated thread without Keith Jarret's Köln Concert (just might be what you're looking for Andrey):

Nice suggestion, though I don't feel quite comfortable playing any melodies in that high a range. I don't want to go anywhere above F4. I do like how Christopher kicked in with the Mellotron sound.

Thanks, but nah, ... not really. Doesn't sound like me. I'm not really looking for anything that goes to so many places in one sitting. Plus, parts of it sound too intimate/romantic. I'm just going to stick with what the other David (Atavachron) and Tony suggested. Let's keep away from improvised jazz for now.
