this was harder than I thought LOL
a poll without the obvious/famous albums (Camel, Genesis, APP, RTF, etc)

other bands that released albums in '76 that I thought of
BOC
Budgie
MMEB
Deja Vu (Norway)
The Doobie Brothers
Ange
Eela Craig

I'll have to make a separate poll for the albums I forgot about Embarrassed

Goblin's `Roller', in my top 5 prog albums of all time, so it's an easy instant vote for me.

The Eloy, Finch, Jane and Brand X albums are the others that I know on this list and are all superb too!

I love those Ian Gillan Band and Octopus albums, both are great, but Goblin wins.

I am not familiar with anything other than Eloy, Colosseum II, Jane, and Brand X, so I can't really tell. I really like Eloy.

I voted for Druid - the first prog band I ever saw live back in 76!  I had a Fluid Druid sticker on my record player - isn't that interesting?

If Fluid Druid had consisted solely of the closing guitar solo to Painters Clouds, it would be worth buying for that alone. What Dane Stevens does with a Flying V defies belief in terms of tone and emotion.

The rest of the album is a bit mixed, but the many good bits are absolutely stunning. They show that they are far, far more than the Yes clones they were sometimes labelled (yeah - the bass player uses a Rickenbacker, the singer has a high voice and the lyrics can be nonsense - that's all they have in common with Yes).

I still have a Fluid Druid concert poster in my music room. Been with me through countless house moves, but every time it is carefully folded and transported. I also have a Horslips poster (The Tain) from 1974 and my pride and joy, a Camel poster from the Snow Goose tour.

Memories of amazing university days.

Ah, Horslips - a fine band.  My posters are long gone but I still have a box of badges from 77 onwards, tour programmes and a scrap-book of album and concert reviews.  Perhaps there should be a memorabilia thread?

I went with Eloy, but haven't heard that Goblin album and suspect it would be second on my list.  "Dawn" is one of the best 2 Eloy albums IMO, the other being "Time to Turn" from 1982, but everything in between them is excellent (except maybe Silent Cries.. which is still good)

Lots of really good choices on this list. I went with Goblin, but maybe I should have chosen Carpe Diem instead.
