As always, there will be ones I really like and missed, but there's plenty of good stuff here for someone who shares similar tastes to me, I think, and some eclecticism for those that wouldn't largely share similar tastes to mine. I know of some great ones that I'm sure I would love from this year that I just don't have yet too. Feel free to mention others, but in that case please also do tell me which of these you chose.

As every year in the 70's, 1976 was great year for music. Too many treasured albums here for me too choose one above the others but these are the standouts according to me:

Zanov - Green Ray
Cos - Viva Boma
Picchio dal Pozzo - Picchio dal Pozzo
Art Zoyd - Symphonie pour le Jour oů Brűleront les Cités
Pierrot Lunaire - Gudrun

the five next would be:

Klaus Schulze - Moondawn
Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear
Popul Vuh - Aguirre, The Wrath of God
Zao - Kawana
Magma - Üdü Wudu

The only progrelated albums I can think of that I would have included in a poll like this not here is Ragnarök's self titled debut and Gonda Sextet - Sámánének.

Love Sámánének, would have included it had I remembered the year (I used PA listings as a guide to remember), and listening to Ragnarök right now on youtube, and loving it. As always, your tastes and knowledge impress me, but then I've discovered a lot and expanded my horizons thanks to you.

EDIT: Anyway, I'll vote for one you introduced me to, Zanov's, though Viva Boma I could just as easily vote for.

Oh and just because I doubt many have heard this album:

Aguirre

Cool selection. Tales of Mystery and Imagination is my favorite from this list.
I would have included Trick of the Tail as well.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

Oh the Ragnarök is such a beauty. Glad you're enjoying it. Finally found it on vinyl. So nice to own some high quality albums that I can actually spin with with guests in the house and no one's complaining.

There's a handful of online friends/acquaintances around the world that if they "promote" a band or album I'm unfamiliar with, I just know I'm going to need to check it out - and you're most definitely one of them.

In polls with more than one essential candidate I've ended up giving sympathy votes for ignored albums rather than actually picking the favorite - but so maybe Viva Bomba will end up getting it.

The only album I really like off that list is APP.

It's still too difficult for me to choose anything other than Udu Wudu.
Dig me...But don't...Bury me

Bowie, any and every time.
I am currently digging:

Hawkwind, Rare Bird, Gong, Tangerine Dream, Khan, Iron Butterfly, and all things canterbury and hard-psych. I also love jazz!

Please drop me a message with album suggestions.

Jean Philippe Goude album is cool
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
