Between the voices on this pool, my favorite ( including that I love their bands) "weird" voice is Geedy Lee follow by Francesco di Giacomo, but I think which Bernardo Lanzetti from AQUAFRAGILE and PFM is also very "weird" !!!!

unconventional... hell yeah for Stratos but like you.. can't think of a single weird factor associated with di Giacomo. Oh well... it takes all kinds to make a prog village...

Sounds kind of like Phil Collins when Phil Collins sounds like Peter Gabriel, which is kind of Fish-y.
Diamanda Galas is another who is rather unconventional.
Fish sounds more like Peter Hammill, and on purpose. it is not for nothing that the covers of two Hammill albums, "Fool's Mate" and "Over", appear on the cover of "Fugazi".
Fish was originally supposed to sing the role of Montresor on Hammill's "The Fall of the House of Usher". but it turned out their voices were too similar, so he was replaced by Andy Bell

Fish sounds rather like a cross between Gabriel and Hammill to me, but really I just wanted to make a silly pun on the word fishy which means strange and weird. Incidentally, I know some people who love Fish's and Gabriel's vocals who hate Hammill's vocals (not just his histrionics) -- I like Hammill more.

I rather hate Gabriel's vocals (well, not really hate anymore, but still I'm not so fond of them), nor do I particularly like Fish's vocals (though I do love the music of Genesis and Marillion with them on board), but I do love Peter Hamill with VDGG (well, perhaps not always, but when he's great, he's another thing).

I was 13 when my mate bought 'Desperate Straights' - at that age, Dagmar's voice seemed to come from another dimension. Still wonderful - I was lucky enough to see her perform News From Babel songs at the Lindsay Cooper tribute concerts in 2014.

Sincerely love most of these vocalists, though they all certainly take time to learn to appreciate. Went with Peter Hammill.
I do find Surkamp the hardest going of this lot (if you don't like Geddy, you're really going to have trouble here . . .).
Czeslaw Niemen doesn't seem strange to me, and I didn't know that was a controversial voice.
I guess you could add Christian Vander (and all of the Magma singers)--note: I LOVE Magma, but they are a good example of a band some just can't get into at all because of the vocals. János Kóbor from Omega was also a tough sale for me for a while.
Some definitely think Kate Bush, Bjork and Mike Patton have weird voices too.
