RESULTS: The Top Prog Tracks Of All Time - 2016

I just mentioned yesterday wanting to include Y.U. on my future list. Agreed!, they're an amazing band and should be included! Just not as well known.

H.T.M,  mm, I'm not so sure, but definitely worth more listens.

Whether a group has recorded poor material is irrelevant. A group can make a good song and follow it with a bad song, and the good song remains listenable in and of itself. In a comparison of songs, whether the group that recorded the song is typically good couldn't matter less. Personally, I don't really like The Doors, and think they made some rather uninteresting material, but they've also released two of my favorite songs (The End and When The Music's Over). 

Also a list is just a series of items, possibly ranked. A "list" does not become less of a "list" because it is wrong, and I seriously doubt anyone would agree with every single ranking, which is why the exercise is itself interesting. 

That Yezda Urfa is even known at all, given its obscurity, is a testament to the power of the internet and especially Progarchives that material forgotten in its time can be resurfaced and reevaluated. That process takes time. Yezda Urfa is simply not a commonly known name. Sorry. Some of my favorite older albums are ignored to the point that they've never been re released on CD. People don't agree. Too bad.

One curious statistic (if you like this kind of thing) is that even though the sample-size is statistically still fairly low the scores approximates to a power-series trend:

...which is exactly the same trend profile you would see if you plotted the sales vs. chart position of the Billboard album and singles charts, Bandcamp sales charts or even in the PA Top 100 charts. 

In the PA Top 100 this is true for the Average rating, the QWR rating and even the number of ratings scored for each album (thou' the last one may not look like a power-series at first glance but it is if you look at the trendline):

So while some may not agree with specific placements or choices, and from the wobbliness of the actual score lines in relation to the calculated trendline there is fair degree leeway at play here, the stats suggest that each track or album's chart position is more or less in the right ball-park.
