Topic: Rush - Moving Pictures or Radiohead - OK Computer? Posted: September 23 2016 at 07:37 |
Which album do you consider better from a musical aspect? Both albums are so critically acclaimed, but neither of them I consider the best work by a band Rush or Radiohead. Personally I would give a slight edge to MP. And OK Computer is very close. And as a band I prefer Rush by a wide margin.

I'll take any Rush album over Radiohead. I just cannot get into Radiohead no matter how I try.

Neither. Rush to me is only okay after Signals and Radiohead never rocked my boat.

For me Radiohead aren't on the same page as Rush musically - in fact they're not even in the same library. No contest! May as well ask whether Coldplay competes with Gabriel era Genesis in any way or form because both have critically acclaimed albums.

Voters on this site rateyourmusic.com definitely won't agree with you. There Moving Pictures is the best rated Rush album with 3.94, while OK Computer is rated much higher with 4.22. Take a look:
And one more thing is interesting: an album OK Computer is among Geddy Lee's personal favorite albums.

I've always been conflicted by Radiohead, but certainly Ok Computer beats Moving Pictures, which is probably the interesting (but not the worst) of the five albums I've heard from Rush.

Radiohead OKC very easily, it ushered in a string of excellent albums and grabs me whenever I hear it. MP is merely 'rather good'.

Very much depends on musical taste - on something like rateyourmusic.com the more commercial you go the larger your audience. I probably wouldn't rate Rush against Radiohead in a most popular contest but then popularity and mainstream means very little to me - it is perhaps unfortunate that the more complex the music is the less the mainstream want to hear it. If you want a hit with the masses do something that is very catchy, very simple, competently. Radiohead is far from simple musically but progressively speaking it doesn't shape up to the prog giants of which Rush is one. I don't mind Radiohead but for me it possibly shouldn't be represented here on PA because to me it will never be progressive and it will never fit in with the complexity, the adrenaline or the drama that I want to hear in prog music. I love Neil Young, ZZ Top in bluesy mode, Thin Lizzy - in fact I love a lot of music - but for different reasons dependent on what ears I want to wear when I want to listen to music. When I want to wear my prog, complex music, dramatic music ears Radiohead doesn't feature.

In my humble opinion RUSH is "The Last of Dinosaurs" and Moving Pictures, although isn't my top Rush album, how I already said in my reviews ( my favorite is "A Farewell To Kings") is a masterpiece and I think there is no comparison between two albums. "Moving Pictures" is fairly superior
