I've been searching Bandcamp lately for something new so I'm glad this thread came up.  I'm a huge fan of Bandcamp and I wish more artist and labels would come on board.  With that said, I just picked up the first four Fates Warning albums this morning from Bandcamp.

I'm a big fan of Bandcamp.

I'd also recommend :-

David Maxim Micic - Ego, Eco, Bilo
Ben Craven - Great and Terrible Potions, Two False Idols

In the prog metal genre, mostly instrumental -
Plini
Cloudkicker
Arcade Messiah
Scale the Summit

I love buying FLAC on Bandcamp. I do not need the plastic and live in a hurricane zone where collecting CDs is risky. I just want to be able to support my groups and receive the best sounding music. Since Amazon and iTunes are increasing their prices for lossy, Bandcamp and CD Baby are great alternatives.

I find iTunes aac to sound the best for lossy. Google Play has 320kbps MP3 which is close. I like Amazon 256kbps VBR the least. They clearly want people on subscription streaming and do not want to maintain 2 catalogues of music file types.

Downloads from bandcamp can be very slow in the evening in France (up to 1 hour for an album) but rather quick in the morning an afternoon (4 mn for an album) Wink
