^ Hi, welcome to Progarchives.

Looks like you would want to suggest a band, and please post their bio, disco, and samples here.

... And which subgenre do you think they can belong to?

Anyway, thanks for your suggestion.

a quick google search came up with nothing but some lame ass death metal band from f**king Canada LOL

if you aren't suggesting that band.. and know of any place on the internet where the music of the band is...simply type in the location of it in a post.

Info I originally posted here for Crimson Stars Eyes has now been moved to its own thread so it doesn't get lost. Smile

As for Crepuscule, the band from the OP, it sounds to me like either prog metal or heavy prog, so perhaps those teams should get notified?

CRÈPUSCULE were formed more than 30 years ago (1986) in Karlsruhe in southern Germany close to the French border by brothers Gerald and Franco Rouvinez (electric guitar and synth/vocals respectively). The decision was made at an early stage to use their native language to express the emotional aspect of their work.  At first they tried to awaken the senses of the listeners through French chanson rock ballads, but already in the early work "Signe De Vie" (to be regarded as a prelude to the current tetralogy of albums), they released their influences in an acoustic form.

Crépuscule are:

- Franco Rouvinez / vocals
- Gérald Rouvinez / guitar
- Günter Kern / keyboards
- Thomas Geiger / bass
- Dieter Taubert / additional guitar on second album
- Thomas Zimmer / drums on second album
- Andreas Groß-Lany / drums on first album

Additional musicians contribute to the albums as well, including:

- Alfred KISTNER / guitar
- Josef HELD / saxophones tenor & soprano
- Kai DÖRING / guitar
- Jochen SCHMIDT / hammond organ
- Daniel STÖCKEL / violin
- Sophie HEYMEL / vocals
- Suzan JONITZ / vocals

"Crépuscule is not just music. From the very beginning we have worked together with the painter Christiane Theilen. From the music their oil paintings have emerged, and from the pictures the story we wanted to tell changed. Then came the computer graphics of the artist Tahayis, who mixed his illusions with the oil paintings. "

"Our inspiration is not only born out of our musical roots like Ange, Magma, Pink Floyd or Klaus Schulze, but comic artists like Bilal and Schuiten have also shaped us."

"Crépuscule is not just a composition, but a vision of music and text, soundscapes and messages. In Hymne à la vie , we wanted to emphasize the importance of rituals in our evolution as a human being or in society or in sexuality.

The journey itself is the ritual. The language is the song. The feelings are sounds that connect."

Two albums and an EP so far, but there was originally intended to be a series of four albums altogether:

Albums:
"L'hymne a la vie" (2006)
"Virr" (2014)

EP:
"Les lunes se lèvent" (actually described as a CD Maxi-Single - 4 tracks) (1996)

Some samples:

Review of "L'hymne a la vie" (plus detailed info about the band) by our own apps79 can be read at: http://rateyourmusic.com/release/album/crepuscule/lhymne_a_la_vie/.

Review of "Virr" (self-released: 18 July 2014) is at:

The band would seem to create a mixture of French style Neo Prog, Electronic Music & Ambient Soundscapes. Probably gonna be a difficult one to pigeon-hole.

Nope, I'm basing that off of the Virr samples on http://www.crepuscule.de/. Most of the tracks seem to have some heavy moments, with the youtube samples you posted seeming to be exceptions. After re-listening, though, I think I'll revoke my earlier statement because the heavy and mellow moments seem to be equally weighed. Perhaps symphonic or neo would be a better middle ground?

I remembered the name from when I was with the Eclectic Prog team, as this was discussed quite a bit. Ricochet and I evaluated Crepuscule for Eclectic Prog 9 years ago: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=44617 We discussed it quite a bit elsewhere (a homeless band thread as well as team threads). We rejected it for Eclectic and proposed it to Symphonic Prog (probably due to it having Ange similarities), and the Symphonic Prog team thought Crossover. At least one in Crossover felt it better in Eclectic, though was okay with it in Crossover, and another gave it a tentative yes. This one seems to have gone to limboland. Actually, my fellow teammate in Eclectic after some discussion was willing to accept it, but I never got back on re-evaluating it, so I can blame myself that it was in limbo (probably why I remembered the name immediately due to a sense of guilt and unfinished business as I was very unsure).

Anyway we could not have heard the latest album, just the one from 2006.

Here is the rateyourmusic page: http://rateyourmusic.com/artist/crepuscule

I would think Crossover based on a quick re-check -- well, first time I've heard anything from the newer album as last time I heard the band was in 2007. It has been likened to Lazuli which is one we brought into the Eclectic fold.

EDIT: I'll pass it on to the Crossover team, and see what they now think.

Crepuscule was cleared yesterday by Crossover - I have contacted the band asking for a biogrpahy, photo and other information. But - their email address is no longer working so I have had to message them through FB. No response yet
