This is nice because Camel's poll winning abilities will be tested hard.
My vote for Van Der Graaf.

Either VDGG or GG (but not Camel). No, the former band - because they're still active. Besides, their latest album, "Do Not Disturb", is really a good one, even though it's still in the Top-10 of the Official UK Album Chart, along with Marillion's muzak "FEAR".

My 3 fave bands behind Tull and Le orme making my top 5. Oblivion express, Magma, Yes, Genesis and Caravan making up the rest of the top 10
|
All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.

I voted for Camel. I love all 3, but Camel's music stands out to me, especially The Snow Goose. Van der Graaf would be at 2nd, and Gentle Giant would be at 3rd. :)

Camel are simply the best band I've ever heard.
GG took some getting into, but I love them now.
VDGG simply are ruined by Hamill's awful vocals.

VDGG Camel Gentle Giant
Never much cared for most of GG's material although I like the self-titled album, Acquiring the Taste and Three Friends.

VDGG slightly over Camel... mostly because I have been feeling like listening to them more often latley. GG is great too, but mostly I love their first two albums, after that they started loosing that touch that I liked so much... I guess the sort of folky melodic stuff.
