At some point, we become disillusioned by our heroes and stopped buying their albums automatically on release (especially when younger and vinyl was expensive).  At which point did this happen with Genesis (if, at all)?

The first Genesis album I bought at least one year after its relase was Invisible Touch.

Stopped after We Can't dance, but Duke was their last 'killer' album IMO..

I dig every period of the band to some extent although I prefer the 70s. Having said that, Duke and the Shapes album are both great records imo. Never warmed up to We Can't Dance bar Fading Lights.

Great albums, especially W&W and ATTWT! (I'm one of the weird guys who prefers Collins as lead vocalist.)

Hackett got custody of me in the divorce. There was weekend visitation for awhile, but Phil kept taking me to really weird parties and now there's a restraining order.

Before that we were a happy family.

Including Wind and Wuthering here shows you're off by a country mile. And it was Puke.

I kept buying them, only as a completionist move. I really lost heart after Duke.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

The last good album was W&W. I continued buying for some reason. I completely had enough once I heard how bland and uninspiring Second Home By the Sea was, and knowing that would be the best I could then expect from ever on. I still bought Inviisible Touch for whatever reason. Scratch-free albums for sure.

I never bought Calling All Stations.

^It's curious you didn't even touch We Can't Dance. Come to think of it, it's not. At that point, it was, "Stick a fork in it, Margaret ..."
