Jacob's Ladder is significantly better than anything else Rush ever did.

I don't like spoken introductions very much. I also find Cygnus a bit tedious. Both songs build up, but I think Jacob's Ladder does it much better. |

And that's what they say about all prog and modern classical music

Jacob's Ladder, even if it is my least favourite song off of Permanent Waves.

I chose Jacob's Ladder. I won't say I like it a whole lot better but I find it to be the better song. Cygnus suffers from a few things in my opinion. One is the herky jerky stop start rhythm section and the other is the robot voice(right before it). Fortunately they both occur in the first few minutes of the track and it only gets better after that.

I wouldn't go that far but it's one of the best tracks on that album.

Very close. Both songs would be in my Rush top ten, but today I'll go for Cygnus.
Tomorrow I may vote otherwise.... |

Had to go with Cygnus. 'Ladder had the unfortunate position of being part of a mishmash of songs that uncomfortably saw the band into the '80s. It should have been on a better album as Cygnus certainly was. I do love Natural Science.
