I'm not a big fan of this Rush period, but I pick Counterparts. CA is a runner-up.

Clockwork Angels > Counterparts > Presto
Two random guys agreed to shake hands. Just Because. They felt like it, you know. It was an agreement of sorts...a random agreement.

I could never get into Rush during this period. As much I liked their music during the 70s,  my interest started going down during the 80s, and became almost non-existent in the 90s.

Vapor Trails was an incredible return to form. It wasn't that they were rocking harder so much as writing stronger material.

Went with Presto. Out of all the albums listed, Presto is the only one I'll to every song with the exception of Show Don't Tell.

My least favorite is Roll The Bones. I love Dreamline but on the whole find the album kind of weak

Snakes & Arrows has grown on me quite a bit over the years

Counterparts. Cohesive, strong, quality atmos; great return to form. Interesting lyrical stances which seemed to upset certain fans.

Vapor Trails is the only Rush album I've yet to purchase. There was so much quality and informed debate about the production standard that I decided to wait. Heard some tracks on live albums, bootlegs, DVDs and at an R30 concert.

Test For Echo... Rush go grunge to remain relevant to the kids.... yerk. I only ever heard 2 grunge albums I thought were any good and Rush downgrading their sound to that appalling guitar sound and style was not a good fit.

Presto... ok but an album they should have kept under their hat for a while.

Roll The Bones ... I enjoyed it but it is probably is not the best.

Snakes and Arrows was, is a fine album. Very together material wise.

Clockwork Angels. Now for some ungodly reason I cannot fathom this; worse I haven't the time or motivation. What is it about. Concepts can be complex but clear. It's probably good but it seems hard to care... Nice Rush type playing (they've a set sound for the past 30 years and ain't going to change.

Since "None Of The Above" wasn't an option, I went for Clockworks Angels. Decent enough record.

These are all fairly bad.

S&A if forced to choose.

All great albums, all Gold or Platinum sales in US or Canada.

Vapor Trails: Brutal, raw and hard edged
Counterparts: Hard drums and guitar
S&A: Heavy drums and great song writing

Good hard kick-a$$ music.

Really dig Clockwork Angels.
The book was cool too.
Welcome to the middle of the film.

After the disappointing Presto and the poor Roll the Bones, I felt finished with Rush. I have heard snippets of some albums between RtB and Clockwork Angels, but CA was their return to form, their best work since Signals.

CLOCKWORK ANGELS

For both the album and the book, I fell in love with both when I heard it back then. Best album since Moving Pictures in my opinion, which in itself was their best since Hemispheres!  Wink

Classical music isn't dead, it's more alive than it's ever been. It's just not on MTV.

What? they sopped using synths? From this list, nothing really. Saw them live a few times during this period but I guess i would go with Vapor Trails. Heavier sound.

Counterparts is my fave from that list. Presto and Roll the Bones are ok.

I didn't like anything they released after Counterparts.
Ultimately bored by endless ecstasy!

Love Clockwork Angels and Snakes & Arrows.
Like others I had stopped listening to their new stuff at some point (probably after Power Windows). Then I happened to hear Far Cry on the radio (imagine that) and was sold once again.

The damage that we do is just so powerfully strong we call it love

The damage that we do just goes on and on and on but not long enough.
