Topic: The Police vs Japan Posted: June 05 2017 at 10:54 |
Two bands whom incorporate exotic sounds alongside new-wave and post-punk; both trade the line between eccentric but also charismatic, with eccentric front-figures.
Curiously both bands released albums (5) in the same timeframe and disbanded short after.
*Japan released a 6th album under a different name some years after.

I love Japan in an erotic way and much prefer Sting solo to The Police.

The Police overall I guess, although I don't think the Police ever recorded anything as good as Tin Drum. That would be in my top five albums of the 80's.

I went with Japan, but they're almost equal. David Sylvian is no doubt a very talented and interesting songwriter, but all of Japan is really talented. Very underrated. Sting, Andy, and Stewart are three talented guys as well, but their discography is more spotty IMO.
