Dislike both (along with Waters) but Final Cut is better for me. But I will likely never listen to it again.

No vote - I find both pretty "meh".
Welcome to the middle of the film.

14-13. The Final Cut has for me, gone from really disliked to admired, respected though like most Rog solo work a little austere to really appeal. e.g. Amuse To Death. I thought it was ok but never quite "got" the buzz others seemed to manage.

Anyway TFC is a Pink Floyd album with much the same line up as The Wall.

For me the most notable PF solos are DG's especially his first. Though his last has also not take flight with me either.

So it's Gilmour versus Beck on these two. Recommend that u tube clip of DG guesting with Beck and performing ELP's (sic) Jerusalem - there is a certain irony in there as well; Jerusalem versus the Dark Satanic Mills or something...

Interesting. Amused pulled ahead early, but now we're tied, 13-13...

Amused to Death, but it's really close. I guess it's got more great songs. But as noted, Final Cut has Gilmour, and it does help a lot. I wonder how Amused to Death would have sounded if it had Gilmour on it... there are parts that scream for his input (like What God Wants part 3)... though on some others I don't think he could have done a better job.

I never got Amused to Death while others I know rant about it. The Final Cut, as mundane as it is, at least had some cohesiveness about it.

Amused to death by a hair. Contrary to most prog fans on this forum, I find both albums very entertaining. I guess is just a matter of personal taste.

I think Is This the Life We Really Want? is the best Floyd-related album, easily. I'm so enamored with this album, so excited by it, that yesterday I went back and put Amused to Death on. Sadly, I couldn't make it halfway through. I found it unlistenable, and those cheesy chorus-line vocals are awful. I don't think Amused has aged well at all. On the other hand, The Final Cut doesn't just have Gilmour's guitar; it also has Michael Kamen's orchestral production; it has more sonic variety, more tonal colors, and is less overblown than Amused.

I guess I'm in the minority though. I really expected The Final Cut to win this head-to-head poll by a mile (or a kilometer if you like LOL )

On another note: As a week has gone by, and Is This the Life continues to get few reviews (and most seem to be middling, if respectable) (if this were a Steven Wilson album, Progarchives would've blown up), I'm starting to wonder if there are many Floyd fans left these days. Perhaps our patience and goodwill ran out after so many years, endless Wall re-runs, and mediocre albums. Is This the Life is a Floyd classic, seriously. Sonically and production-wise, it's like the album that should have come out after The Final Cut, like a Pink Floyd from another dimension that never broke up! Does this album miss Gilmour's guitar? No!!!! You can easily imagine that's him adding tasteful licks. I loved it the day I heard it; and I'm more impressed with it today than ever.

I think Amused to Death is superior in pretty much every way, and is the finest piece of anything Floyd related since Animals.

The Final Cut is fine, but Amused to Death (the best solo album by a PF member) should win this.
