It didn't. Many bands play music in the same vein these days. Blood Ceremony, Witchwood and The Black Wizards all spring to mind but there are others doing the old school hard psych thang these days.
Great band btw. Love that Frumpy 2 album.

 The Jam ended in 1982 when Paul Weller split them up.
