I voted for Jack Nicholson for his excellent acting in classics such as The Shining, Batman, One Flew etc.

Deniro, Pacino and Caan are perhaps equally talented. As regards Hoffman, I think I've  seen him only in the Hook.

My faves are Duvall, De Niro, Pacino, Hackman, Sheen, Nicholsen and Hoffman. Voted for Duvall in the end.
How about Jean Reno, Benicio Del Toro and of course Ben Stiller?

Btw I don't feel Caan, Eastwood, Redford, Alda and Ford belong in this company. Whilst they all are great actors to some extent they still seem rather one-dimensional compared to the rest of the bunch. Sure Clint displayed an abnormally kind and affectionate side of himself in a flick like Bridges of Madison County, but it is something of a lone dove in his work. I can mention quite a few examples pertaining to the remainder of these guys but the gist remains the same. Don't get me wrong - none of these are less than stellar at what they do...I just feel there is a distinct difference in weightclass here.
