From this list: Pollen "Pollen"> Yezda Urfa "Sacred Baboon"> Maxophone "Maxophone">SFF "Symphonic Pictures"> Welcome "Welcome">EtCetera "Same">Fireballet " Night on Bald Mountain ">Druid"Toward the Sun" Ethos "Ardour">Mirthrandir "For You the Old Women"
But I think which Ethos "Open Up" is a much better album than "Ardour" ! |

Not familiar with most on the list but I do know and like Cherry Five, Druid, Maxophone and Yezda Urfa. Guess I need to look into the others listed.

I gave a vote to most on the list (and if I had to choose a top 3 it would include Fireballet, Pulsar & Ange) but the single most frustrating album in my entire prog collection is Kyrie Eleison's, "Fountain Beyond the Sunrise". Musically it sounds amazing, but the truly horrible sound quality is just too awful to get past. I rank it 5 stars for content and 0 stars for production. I've tried to re-EQ the thing and clean it up in Audacity, but so many parts are just so overdriven into distortion to be beyond repair

Harmonium, Cherry Five and Celeste got my votes but there's so much on here that I like.

Nice to see so many votes for Carpe Diem - I didn't expect that to be one of the top picks.
I also went back and listened to the ones I hadn't heard or didn't really remember. As a result I have added a vote for SBB's Pamiec. I thought I'd listened to this before, but it must have been a different SBB album I was thinking of. It's excellent. Edited by Mascodagama - November 27 2017 at 06:29 |

Haven't heard Harmonium, but from the response here it must be very, very good. I think that Maxophone and Shadowfax's Watercourse Way really turned prog on its collective ear regardless.

By the way, wouldn't consider at least 10 of these for the "Lesser Known" category.
