This is surprising... A poll by Logan ... and I own more than half of the options!
I am struggling to choose between Gentle Giant and Riverside both albums are almost perfect. Went with Riverside

Oooh, National Health, Cardiacs or Relayer? Relayer doesn't need my help and is therefore out. I love Cardiacs but had Sing to God lower ranked in their catalogue than PA scores should suggest for long. I got more into it lately and so I think that it's probably just so slightly stronger than "Of Queues..."

Cardiacs get my vote, even though Gentle Giant is also really, really good with Octopus!

BBT - English Electric Full Power has it all! However, I'll vote for Part 1, despite Part 2 having some great stuff. Obviously Relayer and Octopus come close - but thought I'd go for the newer boys on the block this time.

They've got some hearty competition! Relayer is up against the other Yes albums as well as Genesis and Camel, while Octopus has to compete with King Crimson, Van Der Graaf Generator and other GG albums (actually, when I do a search, The Power And The Glory is #8 is Eclectic while Octopus is #9. |

English Electric, Octopus, Salisbury, Relayer. In that order today, subject to change at any moment.

^ and ^^ Subject to change all the time, rather like the album rankings.
These things are in flux, and the QWR algorithm seems to act strangely sometimes. I'm pretty sure Octopus was in eighth place at the time (I was thinking how appropriate for number eight being octo). It's really close between Octopus and The Power of the Glory, as the QWR score for Octopus (which determines rank) is 4.2610 and the one for The Power and The Glory is 4.2639. Can't see any indication why it would have moved, though, but I have noticed such changes before without seeing particular indications for it (no new reviews, but may be some new ratings that affected placement). It may be my fault or the system. Prefer Octopus myself, so I might have subconsciously favoured it or just thought eight because of the octo (plus I may have had puss on the brain). Ok I suppose it's fair. I, personally, rank both of those very highly though. And I see they're currently first and second in this poll, so just really hope it stays that way.

Dang, this is a tough one to pick only one album. I'll also put myself in the camp of struggling to pick between Comus and Laurent Thibault... although I find myself equally drawn to Gentle Giant or Eberhard Weber.
Think I'll go for the (so far) vote-less one with Colours of Chloe.

I hadn't heard Colours of Chloe -- listening to it now on youtube, and is this ever gorgeous?! Wow. Glad I did this poll if even just to discover this. Fantastic! Need to get this album ASAP. |

^ Glad to hear you like it. Really a standout among the ECM label's many jewels as far as I've delved into them. If you liked Colours of Chloe you'd probably enjoy Weber's other 70's works. Yellow Fields and Silent Feet are also favourites of mine.

One always wonders on these type of polls as to what one is rating.....musical playing ability, composition skills and song structures, or just if it's your personal favorite of those listed...?
