Like both songs, but Astronomy wins easily.

IndeedWink! Not even close - and "Astronomy" is not even my favourite BOC song. In terms of "prog" quotient (for those who care about that stuff anywayTongue), I'd go for "Seven Screamin' Dizbusters", "Monsters", or the incredible version of "Veteran of the Psychic Wars" from ET Live. Kansas are OK, but there is just no comparison. None at all.

^^^
The Mick is back!  With a classic Johnnie Mac outburst to boot :)
Tom, not a note?!?!?!?!?

Secret Treaties is my favorite BOC, Astronomy for me.
I do like Kansas also up to the Point of No Return, although their last album from 2016, Prelude Implicit is very good.

Now if the choice had been with "Then Came the Last Days of May", BOC would have got my vote - a haunting song amongst the best they ever did.

Journey From Mariabronn easily.
Astronomy is a fine song though.

BOC is one of those bands that I've wished I could get into but other than a few songs, they don't click with me.

No kidding, Tom? You're missing out! ;)

And you gave up way too soon on Kansas, too. They're one of my favorite bands.

Tough choice.......two bands that I like  a lot. Seen both several times over the years.
Giving Kansas some love since they are down in the poll......but if it was reversed I might have voted for BOC.

I have been a bit disappointed over the years  with BOC,,,,,many of their songs are fairly average rock but then they will have two or three great tracks on an album.  I think all the early Kansas albums are very good but then they also fell down in the later years. IMHO Kansas has better musicianship overall...especially keyboards and drums though Buck Dharma is hard to beat on guitar.
I guess for me it really depends on the album and/or the track as to how I feel on any given comparison.

One does nothing yet nothing is left undone.

I have Leftoverture and Point Of Know Return, but yes, I have never even ‘sampled’ anything from Blue Oyster Cult. I think I had them mixed up with Black Oak Arkansas.................I will have to change this current situation real soon.
Actually, I want to obtain the Kansas album with the bird on the cover.
