My favorite Gentle Giant record. It's absolutely perfect to me. My favorite track is the title track. When that riff kicks in...

^That's a genuinely surprising answer to me. I figured everyone hated that track. It's very, very unique.

Inmate's Lullaby for me as well. Love that one. I rarely listen to GG post-Octopus though.

Definitely the title track, but Way of Life is really cool too. Possibly their best album.

Imo early GG is genuinely playful, mind-expanding and full of atmosphere + warmth mm... Post Octopus they come across as more forced, clinical or sterile and even stressed. The music doesn't really float along anymore - it sounds like the constructions they are. Complexity for complexity's sake is pointless to me. That said I still treasure all their album 1970-76, but prefer 1970-72.

Fantastic album. I really love "A Reunion" and have always been a big fan of the songs Kerry Minnear sings, but for this poll it's impossible not to vote for the wonderfully complex title track

The title track definitely, though the whole album is great.

This is a fair assessment, and I think plenty share your view. Gentle Giant was always the best "needlessly complex" band for me.

The Runaway
Though I adore Experience as well.
Back then, this was available only as an import.
Had to have it. Had to!

Perhaps finding the happy medium is harder than we know.
