Hey guys :) So, of all the albums I know and listen to there are 7 that stand out, 7 that I consider to be 'perfect':
Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) Wish You Were Here (Pink Floyd) Animals (Pink Floyd) The Wall (Pink Floyd) Ok Computer (Radiohead) Misplaced Childhood (Marillion) In the Aeroplane Over the Sea (Neutral Milk Hotel) I was hoping some of you could recommend me an album, another gem to add up to those 'perfect albums'. Keep in mind that I know every Genesis albums, as well as every Yes, Camel, VDGG and King Crimson, so don't need to recommend any of those. Thank you in advance ;)

Do you need to have your lyrics in English?

None of those albums are in my personal top 1000 so I may not be the right person to suggest but I think
Premiata Forneria Marconi - Storia di un Minuto
Tangerine Dream - Rubycon Gnidrolog - In Spite of Harry's Toe Nail Kevin Ayers - Joy of a Toy Incerdible Stirng Band - The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter ... could work in one way or another based on everything you mentioned |

It boils down to taste. Since you are really into PF I would suggest checking out similar bands such as Eloy or early albums by the Alan Parson's Project and Porcupine Tree. Maybe RPWL also.

My first thought is Transatlantic's "The Whirlwind" (or the live version "Whirltour", which is the one I have and know). Just wonderful stuff from beginning to end (well, the very last piece is not as good for me, but it almost feels like a piece out of the rest of the album). I'll check out some lists of albums later on and see which ones I think might go right with yours. Oh yeah, I might add, Soup's last album, "Remedies" is really wonderful. And Georgius two albums are great too (talking about new releases that are fresh in my mind because of that).

Nothing is perfect for me here. I even doubt perfect albums exist.

I actually would not want an album to be perfect (and I doubt there is one).

I don't mind lyrics that are not english :) in fact if you have an instrumental album, then bring it on! When I say 'perfect' I mean something that leaves a great mark in me. I know nothing is perfect ! I will listen to the ones already recommended and I'll have, at least, new additions to my 'collection'

Okay - the record I was going to recommend then is SBB's Pamiec, which has rather beautiful vocals, but in Polish. Based on your love of Floyd I felt it might resonate. Here's the first track: |

Different people different tastes, I mostly agreed with yours, here is mine, mainly looking at it as a desert island list, so there are many different styles, not to get bored:
Paranoid (Black Sabbath) Bridge Across Forever (Transatlantic) Watch (Manfred Mann's Earth Band) Burn (Deep Purple) The Similitude of a Dream (Neal Morse Band) Liquid Tension Experiment (Liquid Tension Experiment) Identity (Airbag) Dark Side of the Moon (Pink Floyd) (I have to have it) And the mother of them all perfect albums: Abbey Road (The Beatles)

I'm not a fan of the kind of music you like, but I'm pretty sure you'll love Porcupine Tree. Most of their albums share the mood and calm atmosphere of your favorite records.

Well, I doubt I can be of much help since our ideas of "perfection" seem to be totally different. You chose all the wrong Pink Floyd albums, you chose "Misplaced Childhood" and "OK Computer", which both leave a lot to be desired, and no VdGG album is perfect for you. Nevertheless I will try:
This is one of my absolute favourite albums: And here is another one: But I sincerely doubt either is to your liking. |

I understand what some of you are saying ahah but it all comes down to taste and sometimes it's actually hard to explain why something means so much to you. I just finished Gnidrolog - In Spite of Harry's Toenail. I started with that one because I already knew Rubycon (Tangerine dream) and Storia di un Minuto (PFM). I found it to be very interesting.. very progressive and not for everybody. My favourite track was the last one, the title track. Thanks a lot for the recommendation, although any of my fav 7 made your top 1000 ahah But look, if you haven't heard 'In the Aeroplane over the sea' yet, you should. The vibe is not that different.

The first band I ever got into as a kid was Pink Floyd. I still remember the first time I heard Dark Side of the Moon. They had closed down school because it had snowed, and a friend of mine brought it over. I spent all day listening to the album over and over, because I was so memorized by the sound. They were the first thing I really spent my own money on, I saved up and slowly bought their when discography, live albums and all. Now I'm more into the Avant-Prog side of things, but Floyd was so instrumental in the development of my musical tastes that I think I can help you out.
I have an internet friend that runs a project called Annöt Rhul, who's album Leviathan approaches pretty close to that period of Pink Floyd: https://youtu.be/u8XFsRB-Pjo Nektar is a pretty overlooked band from the 70's that was pretty similar. Their record company was so impressed by Dark Side's success in the States that the ordered Nektar's A Tab In The Ocean to be remixed so it could be re-released in the U.S. Sadly they never caught on over here, but I've always thought they were the band closest to Floyd without actually ripping off any of their sound. It's one of my favorite Space albums: https://youtu.be/_r2XqcYHSms Lastly as mentioned above Porcupine Tree. I prefer Up the Downstair, but most people will point you towards In Absentia, or Deadwing. If you really enjoy their stuff I suggest listening to Steven Wilson's solo stuff, It's some of his best work: https://youtu.be/Hpz-7sewUjg |

Rush discography and perfection go hand in hand.
