Yet another VDGG poll. I'm aiming to give them a fair chance at winning contrary to the recent series of poll in which they were unjustly involved (the Gentle Giant one being an exception).

Which band do you pick? Both excellent at what they do best. Light and mellow Camel or dark cathartic VDGG?
"Larks' tongues. Wrens' livers. Chaffinch brains. Jaguars' earlobes. Wolf nipple chips. Get 'em while they're hot. They're lovely. Dromedary pretzels, only half a denar."

Camel for me. I love VDGG, but Camel is definitely one of the few that can dethrone them for me.

Against Zappa I (about) wrote that I have more of an emotional connection to VDGG, but thinking more analytically Zappa's greatness is clear.
Here my heart is with both of these more or less equally but the brain prefers VDGG.

VdGG
No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

From the albums I have heard, VdGG doesn't have any whole album I like as much as Mirage. But for me Van der Graaf Generator has more high points than Camel, so I guess I go with them.

VDGG. I still have not been able to connect with Camel. I've really tried, too.

VdGG, hands down. Camel are way too mainstream for my taste. I have a weak spot for "The Snow Goose" though

Mainstream?  That surprises me!!.. Most people I know have heard of VDGG,  but not so much of Camel.
