I'd like to submit myself for consideration under eclectic prog (much of this post will be the same as my introduction elsewhere on the site, so I hope that's ok.)

I'm a 20 year old transgender musician from the UK who has been creating music since 2013, primarily specialising in keyboards but also tackling vocals, guitar, percussion, and other instruments. My songs cover everything from ancient history to modern popular culture, from my own personal struggles to wider issues in the world at large (my music is progressive in more ways than one). I am influenced by a diverse range of artists, ranging from classic symphonic proggers (Yes, Genesis, Camel) to left-field indies (Animal Collective, Sufjan Stevens, Arca) to avant-garde experimentalists (Scott Walker, Aphex Twin, Mr Bungle) and even sample-bending plunderphonicists (The Avalanches, Neil Cicierega, Girl Talk). Although I have made and produced many EPs, singles, and other odd bits and bobs over the years, the main heart of my creative output lies in my series of four full-length albums of original music:
  • My self-titled debut (March 2016), a record that was heavily indebted to classic seventies prog and was originally released under my pre-transition name;
  • Here Comes A Special Boy? (September 2016), a more energetic release that took inspiration from contemporary indie artists, and focused on my experiences discovering my true gender identity;
  • Cerulean Impulses (April 2017), a dark, experimental and very personal record that dealt with a multitude of issues happening in my life (both at the time and continuing to the present);
  • Light and Shade (April 2018), my latest full release and what I'd consider my strongest and most quintissentially me album yet; a return to the textures and song structures of my first two records, but with maturity and lyrical development gained from the third.

Here Comes A Special Boy? was featured on GoldFlakePaint's list of essential Bandcamp albums by trans artists, and tracks from my albums have been played on Thames estuary radio station Ship Full of Bombs.

If you don't already know her, it might be worth introducing yourself to Emma Chrysoprasia Roebuck - a DJ at the mighty Progzilla Radio, with a weekly prog show on there called 'Northern Star' (as well as some other more occasional shows), director at QuerKey CIC and radio broadcaster at Spark Sunderland. She will certainly relate to your personal circumstances, and will no doubt be more than happy to give your music some exposure too.

I don't believe I've heard of her or her show before, but I'll definitely consider checking her out. Thanks for the reccomendation!
