Ditto for both IA and RT.
Richard Thompson not only has brilliant lyrics...he paints pictures and tells stories that few others can match. Oh and he's a guitar (acoustic or electric....take your pick) playing genius to boot.

I added one vote for "Other" for Peter Blegvad who once used the word "hauptbahnhoff" in a lyric.  Oh...wait...he's named Peter.  Skip that.  My 1st vote still goes to "Other" for Brian Eno who once used the word "heuristics" in a lyric.  I refrained from voting "Other" a 2nd time, but next I'd have to agree with Progsopher & Barry Gibb about Richard Thompson.  Put It There Pal may be the nastiest song ever written and Woods of Darnay the saddest (after Tracy Nelson's Down So Low).  Besides "Other", I voted for Robert Wyatt & Syd Barrett.  If my French was better, I'd have considered voting for Christian.  I do enjoy what I understand, though.

I forgot mentioning Justin Hayward and Ray Thomas from the Moody Blues, fantastic lyricists.

I have been known to utter "Animal, laminates" in the same breath as "Ecky-ecky-ecky-ecky-pikang-zoom-boing...."

Thompson, Hayward, Thomas. I'll add Joni Mitchell (staggering writer)

Serge Fiori from Harmonium is also in my top 10:

Vert, jaune et rouge et bleu
J'ai le soleil dans les yeux
Avant de nous faire ses adieux
Ché p'us quel de nous deux
Qui va baisser les yeux
Il vient de commencer à descendre
Avant de se rendre
Y'va nous montrer ses couleurs
Comme s'il avait eu peur
Y'est allé rougir ailleurs..

Jon Anderson's ridiculous lyrics have always spoken to me.
I'm a mess.

I'm glad Waters is doing well enough on this poll. I really love his lyrics, and they are usually dismissed on the forum. I'm glad Jon Anderson isn't doing so bad either, though Yes's lyrics do have their good share of issues, I do love the way the words sound sung by Anderson... and that's supposed to be the point of his lyrics.
