hell if I know.. but what I do know is in addition to singing lead in every band I've ever been in I've entered 3 Karoke contests and won them all yes sir....
first. oh the memories.. I won doing Aretha as I was falling off the stage in a drunken rampage of a birthday night after getting home from the Gulf that ended with 2 hot.. oh nevermind second... Starship.. no one does Gracie the way I can... third .. won it doing Dionne and while not raising hell and drinking like a fish and f**king like a rabbit.. I was enlisted and a member of the church choir... but what my range is.. hell if I know.. I just know I can hit the notes I need to hit and sound good doing it.

My voice is on the low side. I find my range to be close to that of Peter Gabriel's later-stage ranges though I am not nearly the singer he is. Edited by Atavachron - September 25 2018 at 17:22 |

I always get put in the tenor 2 slot in choirs. I don't know why, but choral directors just aren't interested in hearing my Geddy Lee impression. I could totally be an alto.

My voice is very deep. Baritone or bass, I don’t know. I have very little range. I can sing most Jade Warrior songs, though.

Dunno for sure but I can't get the notes Jon Anderson does without going falsetto so I guess I'm below a tenor.

I've been told by experts that my range is something called "flat". Whatever that means.

The only note I ever seem to hit is the brown note, which must be why people find listening to me sing to be such a sh*tty experience.
I fall into the bass range as most comfortable when singing, but no one would be comfortable hearing me sing. Edited by Logan - September 26 2018 at 15:09 |

It's more like I'm a registered Barry White and Isaac Hayes offender. When I sing, I sing low, but calling it singing would be a stretch.

I've heard Jon Anderson described as an alto since his voice is so high, so you may still be a tenor even if you can't reach some of his higher notes. Just for comparison, the verses of Roundabout would be about the top of a typical (choral) tenor range, although for Jon it's a relatively low part.

I used to have a lovely baritone/bass voice, but years of smoking took their toll.
However, when I used to sing and play onstage, I took advantage of my Brian Eno-esque vocal range during songs like "Baby's On Fire!" Much fun, that one!! I'm a better Eno than Fripp, sadly, but I did both in my band at the time (Casual Crobar, an art-project laugher!) |
