I'd rather listen to Caress of Steel all day every day over 2112. It's not that I don't like 2112 but it definitely never clicked for me the way it does for many (most?) Rush fans.
Vote = Hemispheres, easily

2112 feels like individual songs as well.

It pretty much is individual songs, each one a chapter in the story. Both 2112 and Lamneth are structured like that. Not sure why that would be considered a bad thing by some.

Yeah, , I'd even say that 2112 is sometimes embarrassingly naive (though not nearly as much as that CoS sidelong epic), but it's quite clear where they're heading in the storyline.... Something that's absolutely obscure in the Cygnus X-2 epic (X-1 is ok, though) is where they're heading

It's Hemispheres, in'nent. 2112 is a bloody bore in parts, and I have trouble going back to it.

I think Hemispheres(Cygnus X-1 Book II: Hemispheres) has aged better and its far more sophisticated so it gets my vote. But that doesnt mean I don't love 2112 it just means I think Rush got even better as they went on, until signals then it all fell to sh#t after that. They knew we fans would keep buying mediocre efforts its like the synergy of the band was artificial after signals, the magic was only there maybe a couple of songs on each album after signals ... I remember a friend who was a rush fan saying to me after test for echo if they make anymore like this I`m not buying them anymore. I suppose he didn't buy anymore and neither did I.

I confess I've never liked the 2112 Suite whereas Hemispheres I absolutely love.

This week, I have changed my mind, after revisiting 2112 on my government approved morning run. 2112 is, for now, my favourite of the two. After listening to both back to back, Hemispheres, although somewhat more 'mature' is also somewhat repetitive. |

2112 is as bloated as hell but I love it. The band were on the verge of chucking it all in so just thought wtf lets do exactly what we want. This album became a bit like ELP's Tarkus to me. I wore out side one of the tape listening on headphones and hardly ever listened to Side Two (although its better than ELP's effort). Hemispheres is obviously a lot less cheesy and it's all very deep and meaningful but sadly also bores me rigid.
