Greetings all.  Have always been somewhat of a prog fan (but leaning in the progressive metal vein)  with my favorite bands including:

Queensryche
Dream Theater

But also like:

Yes
Jethro Tull
ELP
Pink Floyd

Also enjoying some of the new "avante garde" music being pioneered by Mike Patton and the Mars Volta.. 

Have to say I only came to the site a few months ago and have found the input to be informative and fair-minded in general...which is somewhat of a rarity in this age of instant analysis driven by who can be the loudest and most confrontational or controversial.

old dude as in 40.....although I'm finding that isn't so old on this site!  That's a welcome departure from most music sites where everyone seems to be teen or young 20s.

Ah, you youngsters!!!  I too, am relieved to find civilized and pleasant folk on a forum!  Keep those lists coming ! I'm printing out artists to crossreference.   It will take a while to know who is what, but Today I am leaning to metal hopefully melodic metal........ though I want to experience it all~... thanks.....now, all I need is a higher speed connection and a music dealer that can say something other than-HUH? or What's that?
