MacGyver can do a super guitar solo with a broom and an elastic band. Can you do better?

Maybe I'm thick, but Foxtrot is my choice here. I love JT, but Foxtrot is above anything JT ever did. Maybe my most loving record. Not only from Genesis, but overall. First LP side is great (another lover of Can Utility...) and Supper's ready is genre classic... if only for Apocalypce in 9/8 (but no - I love it as the whole).

This---Foxtrot has Suppers Ready---very few bands have accomplished such a masterpiece---Thick is ok but it does get boring as there is a sameness to the album. Foxtrot is always exciting.

Thick as a Brick, as progressive as it gets. Continuous play for a full album. Supper's Ready is really snippets of several songs cobbled together. Can-Utility is my favorite from that album.

Damn! This is a good one. I gotta go with Foxtrot. Supper's Ready is just sublime. But TAAB is barely a half step behind. Good pair up.

I prefer TAAB but Foxtrot is probably the strongest (musically) of the two.

Foxtrot never connected with me on the whole. It doesn't really resonate with me. While Thick as a Brick isn't a favourite album of mine, I feel like I "get it" much more.
Alan Thicke's singing son Robin Thicke could do a version of "Thick as a Brick" called, I don't know, "Robin as a Chick" maybe, or maybe with Batman called "Batman and Thicke as a Chick". Or perhaps "Batman and Robin Thicke as a Brick" would work better Nah, that would be silly. Anyhoot, it's Thick as a Brick for me. |

In a recent thread where we were asked to rearrange the PA top 20 to our preferred order, I placed "Thick As A Brick" slightly ahead of "Foxtrot", and will do so here also.

No, I know how to behave in the restaurant now, I don't tear at the meat with my hands. If I've become a man of the world somehow, that's not necessarily to say I'm a worldly man.

Taab wins. But 72 isn’t even Tulls best year. 71, 73, 74, 77, 78, 79 are just as good

All I like is prog related bands beginning late 60's/early 70's. Their music from 1968 - 83 has the composition and sound which will never be beaten. Perfect blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock.
