Beat Club was a German music show presented by Uschi Nerke & DJ Dave Lee Travis. The show was broadcast from Bremen, West Germany from 1965 until 1972 and featured many Live acts from Britain, Europe & America. In 1972, Beat Club changed its name to Musik Laden, and the show ran from 1972 until 1984. Everyone's welcome to post Prog-related Beat Club & Musik Laden performances on this thread. I'll be posting as many classic Prog-related Beat Club and Musik Laden performances as I can find on this thread topic in the coming weeks ahead. I hope you'll all enjoy them.
To commemorate the sad loss of Ginger Baker recently, what better way to start than this classic broadcast of Ginger Baker's Air Force on Beat Club in 1970. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - November 03 2019 at 13:52 |

Yes, he hosted Beat Club alongside Uschi Nerke from 1966 to 1969. You can still see many of the early black & white Beat Club shows with Dave Lee Travis on YouTube.

Thanks for posting the "Frontiers of Progression" video. I haven't seen it for several years so I'm looking forward to watching it again.

Very cool. Thank you. Don't have time at the moment, but when I do I will check these out. Looking forward to it. Unfortunately, the Ginger Baker video was unavailable. I hope that changes.

Not to Worry. You can still watch the full Beat Club performance of Ginger Baker's Air Force on YouTube. I just watched it a few moments ago and it features an amazing drum solo on "Tell Me a Story (Toady)" |

In the 90s the Italian state TV broadcasted the whole Beat Club collection. I remember Black Sabbath, Yes, Fanny, and many others. It was just at the time I was usually back from work every afternoon Monday to Friday.

Paul says in the OP "The show was broadcast from Bremen, West Germany from 1965 until 1972 and featured many Live acts from Britain, Europe & America" or was that a later edit which was missed?

You're quite right, Logan. I added America as an afterthought to my original post, having seen many American bands performing in the Beat Club Progressive Times compilation videos I posted here.

Me too! I already learned it's best to stick to talking about music on a music site. Politics and religion were the two subjects we weren't allowed to mention in the forums back when I worked as chief music editor and forum moderator on You Tube Episodes & Music. Political debates can quickly become quite heated, as we've seen here.
