The one thing all of the actors listed above have in common is they've all played the part of the U.S. President on TV and in movies, with the exception of Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was President in The Simpsons Movie. Smile

Travolta's out because of the scientology (though I love the guy).   Robin Williams, Henry Fonda, Heston, Garner, Robards, Vaughan, Scheider, all deceased.

Though Harrison Ford is tempting, I think the winner has to be Kevin Kline, a national treasure and married to a babe.

The two best to ever play the President are not on the list (but they are not American so I guess it doesn't matter):
.
Daniel Day-Lewis (Lincoln) and Anthony Hopkins.  He actually played former President John Quincy Adams in the Spielberg movie 'Amistad'.

I thought of those two actors, but as you say, they're not American, so they didn't make it onto the list. Smile

So far in the poll, Morgan Freeman has won four states in the Electoral College, so the way things stand at the moment, it looks like he's going to be the second black US President. Smile

It's funny you should mention Benjamin Franklin, because some people think he really WAS a US President. Smile

Had to go with Martin Sheen for the West Wing but I was tempted to vote for Henry Fonda in Fail Safe, great movie!

Which one would that be? There are several actors in the poll who are no longer with us.

Opening Robin Williams' account.  Too many tough guy world leaders, we have had enough of them.  And what good have they done other than flexing their imaginary muscles (and sending soldiers to certain death in service of their macho image) and refusing to solve problems peacefully?  Williams would teach people to laugh and get the most out of life even in hard times, because that's what comedians, without exception, are great at.  Williams would teach men to drop their macho mask and be themselves again.  THAT is what we need, not the fake macho image of Trump nor the fake peoplekind PC of Trudeau.  We need a genuine character in the most important political office in the world.  And genuineness isn't the 'courage' to say the spiteful things that liberals don't want you to say but the courage to understand and appreciate people in spite of what differences we have.  Disclaimer:  The above is entirely based on the characters Williams played and nothing to do with his real life.

^^ Thanks for your vote. For the benefit of anyone who doesn't already know, Robin Williams played the part of President Dobbs in the political satire "Man of the Year" (2006).

Had to go for Henry Fonda.   Not many Presidents would nuke the Empire State Building to curry good favour with Moscow.

Hang on...

Believe me Pope Paul, my toes are clean
