Genesis had there been another album than GFTO, it would have been tough choice. GFTO is just an ok album for me.

I'm running still, I shall until, one day, I hope that I'll arrive Warning: Listening to jazz excessively can cause a laxative effect. |

Went with Genesis.
If it had been Yes album + Relayer or Tales (CTTE & Fragile had already been used) it would have been different. Any combo taken from Yes' big 5 will beat any Genesis combo. |

I guess this time it must be Genesis, as much as I love Awaken.

SEBTP > GFTO > TYA > ATOTT Tough. Selling England by the Pound is essential, but so is Going for the One in my book. If I were to assign numbers, SEBTP is high 90s, GFTO around 90, TYA a hair lower, while Trick is ~80 out 100. Very, very even poll from my point of view. As a tie-breaker, I'll ask myself: What would you like to hear today? And I come up with Selling England by the Pound.

The Yes Album is the only one of the four that I REALLY like, so that would make Yes the winner regardless of what other Yes album you paired it with.

Easy poll. Two of the best Genesis albums. Probably the ones I would choose to introduce someone to their classic sound.
There are much stronger Yes records. Though both are pretty damn good.

Selling England by the Pound>The Yes Album>A Trick of the Tail=Going for the One
So for this one, I'll go with Genesis, but just barely.

TYA is great but not one of my very, very favorite Yes albums. SEBTP for a long time was my favorite Genesis although eventually it became TOTT so Genesis it is. As for GFTO I prefer the live versions of most of those songs especially parallels. It's still very good though but maybe a step down from the albums before it.
